Have you ever go through the specifications of modern smartphones, than you may come across the term, Non-removable battery. This term Non-Removable Battery means the user cannot remove or take out the battery from the phone without the help of any tool, i.e. you should have expertise knowledge and tools to take out the non-removable battery. Few questions e.g. why the phone companies have to develop the phones with non-removable batteries or what are the advantages , disadvantages of non-removable batteries, will be arouse in your mind. We will try to find out the answers of these questions in this article.
The phone manufacturers have to
develop the phones having non-removable batteries due to the following
advantages:
Slimmer
Phones:
Due to the non-removable battery,
the slimmer phone designs called UNIBODY have been achieved by the
manufacturers. As the non-removable battery is fixed with the circuit of the
phone, the thickness of the phone reasonably decreased. Also Unibody phones
have fixed batteries and there back-case cannot be pop out in most cases, the
manufacturers also wipes out that particular room, which is provided in the
phones with removable batteries to safely remove the battery, which means the Unibody
phones will achieve more slimness.
Phone Interiors
remains Safe:
As
the phones with non-removable batteries usually have Unibody design, which
means their back-case cannot be pop out in most cases, the phone interiors like
charging pin, sim slots etc. will be remain safer. Because these interior phone
parts can be damaged with the frequent in and out of the battery from the
phone, but same thing is not going to be happen due to non-removable battery.
Also there are less chances of dust entering into the phone circuit as the
back-cover cannot be removed.
Non-removable batteries are not all
about advantages, there are some disadvantages as well which you should take
care of while purchasing a new smartphone.
Costlier to
Replace Faulty Battery:
That is the biggest concern for a
phone with non-removable battery. What would you do if the phone battery
becomes faulty or defective, because you can’t simply replace the faulty one
with a new battery, like one does that in the case of phone with removable
battery. The cost of replacing a non-removable battery is quite much, sometimes
this cost becomes equal to the price of new smartphone, because it includes the
labor cost as well with the cost of new battery. Lithium based
batteries are mostly used in phones these days and this battery usually start
to lose its charging capacity after 500 charge cycles. Once a battery has
completed its charge cycles, its charging capacity will become low to lower.
No Hard
Restart:
In case of phone with removable
battery when the smartphone ceases and its home, power button also stops
working, you can simply restart it by taking out the battery and install it
again. This is hard restart, the same luxury is not available in case of
non-removable battery, because you cannot take out the battery. When
the phone is stuck or hangs very badly and no button (home or power button) is
functioning what should you do to restart the phone. There is no
solution of this problem unless you ran out of battery and phone shut down
automatically.
Cannot
Minimize Water Damage:
You cannot do much about water
damage in case of non-removable battery. With a removable battery, you can cure
the phone by removing the back case, take out the battery, than try to dry the
phone and battery by placing it in sunlight or any warm, dry place. The same
luxury is not available in case of non-removable battery. Although there is
less probability of water damage, but phones do have this risk.
No Battery
backup:
You cannot carry back up battery
for emergency use if you have a phone with non-removable battery. Because some
people do not find time to charge their devices. But thanks to power banks,
this problem can be minimize, because a power bank can give you 4 to 5 full
charges. Without power bank, this is really a headache for many users having
phones with a non-removable battery.
Resale Value:
Phone’s
Resale value is also considered by many smartphone buyers while purchasing a
new smartphone. Statistics from past few years indicate that the
phones with removable batteries tend to have higher resale value comparing to
the phones with non-removable batteries. The reason is very simple, as
who will want to buy a smartphone with a defective battery and he can’t replace
it in low cost.
In
the present era, the phones with non-removable batteries have more de-merits
than the advantages. So, in our opinion a phone with removable
battery is better to have. In future, if we see a phone with a 10,000
mAh battery and it can last 4 to 5 years, than we may change our attention
towards those phones which have non-removable batteries.
